Maypole in Prospect Park?

Anyone else see what I can only imagine was some sort of maypole (very tall pole with colored ribbons attached at the top and people holding onto ribbons at the bottom) in the park this morning (between 6-7am).

I wouldn't have noticed, since they were tucked away near the trees on that bit of grass where the soccer games are, but a police car had stopped and was checking them out....

I hope it's there later today. This is great. Thanks for sharing.

I'm not sure if it will be.... it looked like an unofficial thing - it really wasn't out in the open as I would have expected it to be if they had permission to be there. Plus, the guy in the police car looked like he had no idea about what was going on. I'd be interested to know if it's still there though.

Can't see why they'd need permission to be there - people don't get permission to come set up their volleyball nets, do they? Though maybe it's different because there's a religious ceremony involved.

Still, it's good that the police were checking them out. I mean, people dancing around a pole! On May Day! That's definitely suspicious.

I walked all over the park yesterday looking for the May Pole, to no avail.
But I agree...seeing people dance around a may pole would make me very suspicious.
