Best place for bike maintenance?

Now that we've established where to go for a new or used bike, can anyone tell me the best place and deals for bike maintenance? I went by the bike shop on 7th between 13th and 14th and had to make an appointment!

Bike Station on Vanderbilt and Bergen or Dixon's on Union 6 & 7.

Bike Station, definitely. Avoid R&A on 5th Avenue at all costs--they are uncommonly rude.

Bicycle Station on Vanderbilt indeed rocks: cheap, well-done repairs by competent, friendly staff. Dixon's on Union Street off 7th Avenue (across from the Tea Lounge, next to the infamous Park Slope Food Co-Op) does good work, too, but can get crowded, and, though mostly staffed with friendly people, has an older woman working there who obviously has had one too many stuck-up yuppie Park Slope stereotypes rub her the wrong way. I don't like 'tude when I didn't do anything to deserve it.

Stay away from R&S at all costs unless you're a rich bike snob, and based on my experience, the staff at On The Move (400 7th Ave.) aren't any better, just less attitudinal and more incompetent.

Mostly I do my repairs myself, so it has to be something beyond my ability or requiring esoteric parts for me to bring it to the shop, so note that my experiences aren't based on easy repairs.

I agree with all of the above posters. Bicycle Station is cheap and friendly. Love them!

I'm anything but a bike snob and whenever I try to repair something myself, I break it...
