Subject: What Happened to Lillie's?

So I finally got off my lazy butt to go to this legendary bar, and low and behold the place is closed. What happened?

Short answer, financial problems. Lillie's was ahead of it's time. While Van Brunt St. is starting to see some foot traffic, the corner of Dwight and Beard is a dark, isolated place. People just don't wander into a place that far out of the way. But it was a beautiful bar.

Anybody care to share memories of Lillie's? Or is it too soon?

Is Lillies the place that was only open once in a blue moon?

It use to be open every night. A lot of bartenders from around brooklyn would hang out there after work. So even during the week she was open really late. After leaving Lillie's, I passed school bus drivers going to work a couple times.
