Need Locksmith Help! [the MultiLock card ]

We just moved to the area, and need to get some extra sets of keys made for our apartment. However, the front door key (a large "Multi-Lock key) says Do Not Duplicate, as do the elevator keys which are needed to work the elevator (which opens into our apartment). They are called "Gem" and have a round opening which fits into the elevator lock.

Any idea where (in North-slope area) we can get them duplicated???

Thanks!

You will need the MultiLock card to have those keys duplicated.

The locksmith on 9th Street and 5th Ave can do some of the MultiLocks,
as well as Lowes and Home Depot, but nothing will happen without
the "card" that was given to the person who installed the locks.

probably need to ask your landlord or co-op board (or whoever is in charge of keys for your building).

Ok... it's a condo. So maybe the management agent?

i don't know... sounds good to me. if not them, they should know who.

actually, they might make copies for you but will mot likely charge you. in my co-op, the board charges for copies of the main door keys... they won't give the card out.

What a rip off charging $20 for a key! Ridiculous. My landlord loaned us the card. It cost us something like $3 to get a copy.

When you get the card you can also get a key made at the locksmith on 2nd Street, right off of 5th Avenue.

A locksmith had bumped the thread in order to post an ad for his services. I removed his post from the thread and moved it to Listings.

But that's why it was temporarily first on the list.
