School buses honking horns?

Is it normal for school buses to honk their horns outside every pickup? Been getting up at 7:15 every morning (I work nights) to the sound of a school bus blasting away outside my house on 10th street. Do they all do that or am I especially lucky? Could be worse I suppose but it seems especially pointless since the bus shows up at exactly 7:15 every day.

On my block it's not the bus that honks, but the line of cars that pile up behind the bus while it waits for someone. So, I get multiple cars who often decide to honk in unison. Maybe someday it will get the bus (or the rider) to move faster. Until then, I get a 7:15 wake up service.

Do you live on my block? There is a group home down the street and some of the residents get picked up by yellow bus every morning, and it never fails that someone in a car backed up behind it will start honking furiously, never mind that the bus has its red lights flashing while these severely disabled people get on the bus. The whole thing takes no more than a few minutes, but apparently that is enough to send someone into a noisy honking rage every single day.
