Where to get free packing materials

I am about to move into a new apartment in PS. I generally try to get boxes, bubble wrap, peanuts, etc from stores that are getting rid of it since 1) it's recycling and 2) it's free. Some stores are thrilled to get rid of the stuff, others don't want to be bothered. Does anyone have suggestions of which stores to check with?

Do any of your neighbors get Fresh Direct? They are perfect boxes and you know they'll get about 3 boxes for 3 tomatoes.

Check craigslist, lots of people give away their packing materials there after they've moved.

Another vote for CL....also, those paint-your-own pottery places are treasure troves for packing peanuts.

Liquor stores have a ton of boxes. I work at Shawn's on 7th ave and Mondays and Fridays we usually have alot of boxes since we get quite a few deliveries on those days. It's probably different for other liquor stores so a good thing to do is stop by and tell them you're moving. We don't mind saving boxes for people as long as they pick them up pretty quickly. We just don't have the space to store them. Also, people seem to want boxes that aren't broken down for some reason. But the ones that are already broken down are easier to carry, you can carry more, and you just take them home and tape up the bottom when you're ready to pack. That's what I did when I moved. Good luck!
