I am sorry I won't be on my stoop then.. What a great idea..

    (Oh I forgot.. I don't really have a stoop!)

How come everyone wants us to make noise on the 23rd? First it was the war protest... now this... and they're at the same time.

I'm having my engagement party on Saturday. I hope no one starts banging on pots on my block! #-o

Your celebration can occur any time of day, but at 8:31 pm, when the sun sets, the All-Slope-Solstice-Shout-Out will start. Use kazoos, bang pots and pans, swing bells, or play drums. Make a racket to bid farewell to the sun's long day and to ring in the new season. Or sing to the sun.
Seriously, if you and your obnoxious kids start banging pots on outside my stoop I'll beat you with that pot.
I'm all for people enjoying the summer and the stoop, but once it gets dark, take your kids inside, and keep it down. There's enough regular noise, car horns, trucks, drunks, etc... going on at night, we don't need people "shouting out." I'm all for block parties though, as long as everyone is mellow and don't start fighting and carrying on drunk past midnight.... sigh

Agree (about the block parties), Mamacita. What I'm wondering is, why does 85% of our block insist on congregating outside our brownstone? I don't care if you're outside hanging out, but when I nearly break my neck on one of four Barbies, an empty Cheez Doodle bag or an empty can of pomade when trying to walk out my front steps, or when it's midnight on a weeknight and your kids are on my stoop with those damn firecracker popper things, I get a little irritated.
