The Girl From Crown Heights

Bubbles Silverman, later known as Beverly Sills, was a little red-headed girl running around Crown Heights before she went on to a major career as an opera diva and director of the Met.

She was from Crown Heights??? Sweet.

She truly was a great singer and a woman of class, without being too hoity toity. I remember seeing her on the television machine here and there when I was a kid.

According to one account I read, her family lived on Empire Blvd. Not my part of the Heights, but I'll take it, nonetheless.
