Subject: New Webster's word is DOA

God, I'm stuck at a zoning board meeting for the next three hours. Fortunately, the borough has a wireless hub and I have a laptop. So, to co-opt the current meme, IM IN UR TOWN HALL, STEALIN UR INTERNETZ.

And I read this.
Does anybody still say "ginormous"? At first I liked it because it sounded like something a spaced-out 7-year-old would say. But years ago it was annexed by the legions of doughy office drones who make little humor-funerals out of opening their mouths. I guess one of them works for Webster's.

I say we petition to redefine the word: "Involving excessive quantities of a certain clear liquor," anyone?

I was amazed to see that the first documented use of ginormous was in the 40s. And as I'm typing, DH has the word above underlined in red. Time to update those dictionary files!
