BEDFORD is misspelled on this forum in case anyone cares.

Red Hook gets a forum first, after Bed Stuy had been requested for months... and now it gets a misspelling.

your guest-name - "heynow" - has me humming this corrosion by the sisters of mercy. it also took me about 2 minutes to figure out how that song got stuck in my head.

Gee, sorry for offering you a FREE service and not being perfect. No, I'm not the person who spelled it wrong, but yes, I will fix it.

I don't understand why Bed Stuy has to share with Fort Greene/Clinton Hill. They should have their own.

are there a lot of Bed-Stuy posters?

I know there aren't a whole lot of us who post regularly for CH/Ft Greene. I'm not surprised to see the consolidation.

Besides, I'm not entirely convinced Clinton Hill (where I live) is a neighborhood. :D Seems to me to be a creation on the border of two larger more famous neighborhoods.

Yeah, either This Corrosion or Hank "Hey Now" Kingsley from The Larry Sanders Show!

This Corrosion has the best intro ever, but I always hated the "hey now" part of that song.

yeah, me too. which is why it's so freakin' irritating on multiple levels to have that part of that particular song stuck in my head b/c of the original poster's name and the content of that particular post. :)

    Subject: Hi Emily

Thank you for changing it. I appreciate this website and all its boards. I was just being pouty.

I post on several of them except for Prospect Heights because you have to register. I registered a LONG time ago but it no longer accepts my password and I don't feel like going thru the registration process again.

HEY NOW is from the Larry Sanders show. Whoever guessed correctly gets a free beer on me at Soda. NOT! i hate that place.....

I would just try registering again under a different name. There's a reason why I'm EmilyM and "Emily" hasn't posted since like March 2005.

I realize that people want their own space for every neighborhood, but the more boards there are, the more places we have to clean up spam, which is really annoying and takes more time than you'd think (because we have to try to keep track of the IPs to see whether there are repeat offenders that have to be banned altogether). So for a while we were starting boards more or less on request, but stopped because they didn't really pick up and it was more trouble than it was worth. Red Hook got a board because someone who ran his own site contacted our site admin (dailyheights) and offered to mod it himself (and, presumably, direct new users to it). Jaha offered to mod this, and if it really takes off, we can always split Bed Stuy off on its own.

So on that note, if you motivate people to start posting on this board then eventually Bed Stuy will be on its own...

The best way to do that is to get bed stuy bloggers involved in the board, similar to what Steve/Mick has done by helping to create a Red Hook board (the B61 Board).

    Bed stuy bloggers: represent??

I also registered a few times and never got a confirmation email so I just post as a guest. If someone could help me with this let me know.

As far as it not being a lot of Bed Stuy posters look a Brooklyn Heights, Coney Island and some of the others. You have a hand full of people that post on those forums and they got their own.

When I registered I got an email with my login & password, but it said

"Your account is currently inactive, the administrator of the board will need to activate it before you can log in. You will receive another email when this has occured."

I never got that second email, but after a few days I just tried logging in & it worked fine.

My thing is that the other forums didn't have to be shared on a trial basis so, why should Bed Stuy? Did you not Comprehend that? Smart ass.

which is what EmilyM is explaining - the reasoning behind the "sharing". were you an only child?

It might be your browser. Sometimes Opera doesn't work right
    when you register for sites

Try switching to IE or Firefox (if you use Windows)

btw, I am Crown Heights/Bed Stuy my entire life
you can make it seperate if you like. Because many
of the problems in Bed-Stuy are not quite the same as
    Clinton Hills

Overwhelmingly the problem is that people register with webmail services such as Yahoo that inevitably send the confirmation e-mail to the Junk Mail folder. We no longer require confirmation e-mails, so just register again and everything should be fine. If you have already registered a name and it's inactive, send me an e-mail or PM and I'll take care of it.
