Ant problem! Solutions that are safe around my kitty?

We have a bit of an ant problem in my apartment. They are really tiny ants, and luckily it's not crazy, but it's enough to annoy me. I can't figure out where they are coming from, there aren't enough of them for an obvious ant trail. I usually just find them congregating over a crumb on the floor. (I'm trying to be really good about food and crumbs, but they can really seek out the smallest thing.) If not for my kitty, I would just spray some of the Raid ant killer in the areas I see them the most, but I'm way too scared to use that stuff because it's so toxic and I can't really stop my cat from going to those areas, especially since one of the areas is near her food bowl where she sometimes drops a bit of food. Does anyone have any recommendations on getting rid of ants that's safe to use around my kitty? Are those little plastic ant baits okay? I wasn't sure about those because I could just see my cat playing with one, knocking it around, maybe even biting it and letting the poison out. Thanks!

Orange Guard seems to work on a lot of bugs and is safe for humans and animals. I'm sure if you Google it it will say whether it works on ants.

You can find it in a lot of health food stores

Here you go. This stuff works, and smells nice and is natural....it does get a bit sticky on floors, but I'd rather that than a bunch of chemicals
