afternoon shooting @ Halsey Tompkins/Throop

It was about 2:30 this afternoon, when my daughter, dog and I were heading to the playground, when I heard 'em. Just as I was wondering/hoping my ears were deceiving me, it was confirmed by several people on the street, who offered cautionary words, "Careful. Gun shots." About an hour later, I noticed the street was blocked off (the B26 was being diverted), and a slew of sirens, firetrucks, police cars were on the scene.

This saddens/maddens me, because just yesterday afternoon, the Halsey T/T Block Association held a block party, which we attended, and were warmly welcomed. And just 24 hours later...? In broad daylight?? On a Sunday???

"Makes me wanna holla..."

Anyone have any details on this?

Subject: Shots fired last night

Last night I once again heard shots fired that sound much too close for comfort out side my window. I tell you my fiance and I hit the deck and were on the floor and crawled to the other side of our apartment.

This is the third such occurance this summer and it is really beginning to scare me. I live on the border between Fort Greene/Clinton Hill/Prospect Heights. This happened around 3:30am. What should I do? I was thinking of buying here but now I'm definitely not sure. I've been here in the neighborhood for 8 years and this summer is the first that I feel unsafe. I called the police but I don't know if anything resulted from that.
