was driving home from my harrowing trip to bay ridge yesterday, and when i hit the corner of 16th/5th i saw a new vintage clothing store on the east side of the street, two storefronts south of 16th. can't remember the name... "more vintage"???

anyone been there?

still mourning the salvation army thrift shop on 13th/5th that literally vanished overnight

It's been talk about in a previous thread. They opened late last year I think? Been there, pricey.

i think you are talking about Monk - they are very friendly in there - i dont like the fact that you will see twenty of the same shirt in different colors - a lot of designer rejects i guess - i too miss the one on 5th and 13th - especially the ambience - it was a true thrift shop

Shoot.. I cant remember the name right now either. The prices are certainly more than our dear departed Salvation Army on 5th ave.. but the clothing is more "chosen." Just to give you an idea I bought 4 shirts for $23.. indeed they were vintage..like from banana republic, putamayo.. each one of these tops was quirky and interesting (at least to me)..

This shop is worth checking out I would say but don't expect you will walk out of there with a whole wardrobe for $50.

    LOVE this place.

bought quite a few things here...

a tad pricey for vintage, but not unlike beacon's closet, etc.

    which i also love.

i think i'll stick to the salvation army. i can't imagine paying more than a couple of bucks for a shirt... and you certainly can't pay enough for the thrill of the hunt.

There is a very very large Salvation Army store on Atlantic, around Bond. I think there i also a Goodwill around there.

good one on atlantic, but the clothes are very crowded onto the racks.

i know where all the salvation armies are. i haven't been to any goodwill other than the one on fulton, which is pretty great. but not so cheap.

there's also a decent salvation army on flatbush. i cant remember the cross street off the top of my head cause it's been a while. but i found some great stuff there. and they had a fully working Apple II ! I wanted to buy it but didnt have the $45 at the time. I wonder if it's still there.

it's down near 5th, on the same block as the tile store. (but at the opposite end, further east.)
