Come and support the participants or get a good tune-up for the Marathon. The race starts at Restoration Plaza. Stop by and say hello or throw water on me as I sweat it out.

Haven't done a 10k in 10 years but sounds enticing - - what is the route?

I have not done this race since the late eighties, but back then it started on Marcy and Fulton went to DeKalb then over to Bedford then to Wiloughby to Tompkins back to Fulton briefly to Brooklyn over to the Childrens Museum where we made a right then it gets hazy (been a couple of decades, but runners understand the memory of races) but we ended up heading south to Eastern Pkwy then west to Bedford then North to Herkimer made a right and headed east to the back of Restoration Plaza bet. New York and Brooklyn for food and medal presentation and celebration. Those were the 6min. mile days that I dream of recapturing. It should have been the Bed Stuy/Crown Hghts. 10k but maybe back then all that was considered Bed Stuy, who knows, but you've got 7 weeks to train so get cracking.

Did twice around Prospect this morning and the humidity added 5 minutes to my run.

just started some training this weekend. I was crazy enough to think I could get ready for the marathon in 2 months, having not done any consistent running for over 3 years! The 10k may be a lot more realistic for me. I will focus my training around that now.

Two "old men" passed me on saturday morning! I recognize them as being longtime runners though. :0)

I'm not exactly a spring chicken anymore either, lol

This race is almost 50% in Crown Heights so it should be the BS/CH 10k.

I cannot find the route online. Do you think they'll have a website for this event at some point before the race?

Let this race return to its former glory, come out and cheer if you can't walk or run.

Agreed. There are a lot of runners in the area. It would be good to see the race well supported.

I'll be out of town this weekend, otherwise no problem. Where can I pick up a bunch? I'll give some out during the week.

I did my first training run 10k last night. man, I am in trouble! LOL

Actually, my progress has been good, but I will have to step it up a bit if I am going to enjoy this race, and not simply endure it.

This was the last thread free of even a mention of the "G" word. Please keep it that way.

Completed the Queens Half Marathon this morning and my toes are destroyed, but the sight of a finish line is one of the most rewarding things in life.

An 82 year old gentleman finished second to last, but the great news is he finished first in his age group! Oh yeah he beat some twenty something year old. :D

The time has almost come, less than 24 hours until we start the 26th annual Bed Stuy Restoration 10k. Please come out and cheer, and yell, and run, and walk, and celebrate this race. This is a great opportunity to meet new friends and to get to know some of the history of this community. I look forward to taking part in this event and helping to build my community. Please don't drive on Bedford, Fulton, Atlantic or Eastern Pkwy between 9:45 and 12:00 noon.
