Hey, what is the future of that business named Bodega on Fulton near Waverly (or Clinton?) Well, actually... what is its past? I just moved into the area and it looks like a nice space with a lot of potential. Anyone know the scoop?

It was a great place but was only open about a year, I think. Had great burgers and brunch. The owner also owned the now defunct Liquors (on DeKalb). Lots of rumors about what happened...but seems to stem primarily from poor management financially. I miss both places, but especially Bodegas!!! It was reasonably priced, and had decent food. Have not heard if anything is replacing either one (although the Liquors space has been listed for rent). ANYONE KNOW?

I have heard that the people who run Pequena in Fort Greene have leased the space. That part of Fulton would benefit immensely from a cool thriving restaurant in that spot.

Yeah, I agree- something new and vital on that strip of Fulton would go a long way. I hope something cool goes in!

Oh yeah - now that you mention it, yes I also heard the the owners of Pequena (same owners of Olea and Maggie Brown and Moe's) got the space...can't wait to see what happens. Although it doesn't seem like anything's happening in there at all yet. Hurry up people! :)

Cafe Lafayette has greattttt burgers. Whoever gets the place I hope they develop good tasting affordable cuisine. Nothing fancy, just good old burgers, roast chicken ,mashed potatoes, spaghetti. You know....comfort good.

Yea Bodega's was good, but it seemed like it was too physically big for what came down to a bistro you know? I never saw it full, it would be nice to have a Kinko's-as there are so many small biz owners and students in the area who can use that light night crisis help-you know?

I'm hoping that it becomes an organic grocery store. Long shot, but this area needs one bad, and that would be a great space for it.

I agree: what this area needs most desperately is a place with decent produce. The Met supermarket is okay for everything but produce-- which is nauseating!

I "fourth" the motion for a great grocery store with decent produce! OK, if the owners of Cafe Lafayette have already taken the space, that's great, but there IS "that Sharon's Dance Theater" space that would fit the bill just fine. A place with great fruit and vegetables, a bakery counter, and a meat counter would be beyond sensational. Something along the lines of Blue Apron, maybe. Or (feeling ambitious) Garden of Eden! Yay!

I don't get why no one has thought to do this. It would be the only one and therefore be busy all the time. On a related note: About a month ago my girlfriend and I were walking past that Organic Grocer movie set (forget where it was) and before she remembered what it was, we almost had a heart attack out of sheer joy. We literally started dancing (i think the wine we drank had something to do with this) when we thought it was going to be an organic grocer in the hood.

    Ahh.... To dream.....

Omg...if they put something like a Garden of Eden in the bodegas spot..that would be sweet.

I'm writing a letter to Eden Grocers to petition them to at least ccome and LOOK at the area. Maybe they just don't known about Little Us, and how badly we need services like theirs. Probably won't come to anything, but it can't hurt. The worst they can do is tell me to sod off.

the new Choice market on Grand and Greene should help a bit...won't be as big as a Garden of Eden, but I have hope for some great fresh produce/bread/cheese/charcuterie!
