No, although to my understanding this happens much more often than many people realize, but the info's often not made public (maybe King without a crown or ParadeRest can weigh in on whether this is true). That wording -- "a man or a boy" -- is pretty disturbing.

This is a daily occurence in the city. Gothamist is also reporting this incident as "fatal train Vs. Pedestrian". Looks like Kingston ave-Eastern parkway station.

Yep, there were a lot of cops and people outside the station, say around 5 pm yesterday.

I have no interest in suicide, but if I did, the pills/booze method seems the best in my opinion. subway smash? yuxors.

ja, i gotta go with dorothy parker on this one. ('course, she basically drank herself to death, so let's not extend this metaphor too far.)

Yes, I think there are a lot more suicides than get reported. They can be really, really tough on the drivers. Pills and alcohol is a much kinder way to go in that respect.

    So committing suicide is rational?

fascinatingly enough, I was having a conversation w/ some folks the other night about the rationale of suicide. but it was a horrendously academic conversation b/c one of the folks is a ph.d. candidate in psychology.

and I'm no good at judging rational behavior - I do a lot of really irrational shit and feel a-ok about it.
