ha! it's funny, because I have 2 (small) moths in my house today. They are amusing the hell out of my cats.....which leads me to my solution :-)

you don't understand, i can't go near the thing. so i called a friend and she said to turn off all of the lights and it would die on it's own. arggg, this is ridiculous.

The moth is attracted to the light because it uses the moon to navigate as it's a nocturnal creature. Turning off the light and opening a window could help.

Would you be scared if a butterfly was in your apartment? Did you play with caterpillars as a kid? Remember how cute they were? Then remember that you're so much bigger than the moth and it won't bite or hurt you and has no interest in you.

Hope that will make you less afraid of it. Worked for me. :-)

When a nasty bug dares to come into my apartment they get to meet my trusty vacuum cleaner. Thank jeebus for the hose extensions!

Of course the nice way is to do what doublediamond said, I generally reserve the VC for roaches or waterbugs. Because they totally deserve it.

doublediamond: i'm scared of anything that flies or crawls. couldn't even tell you what a caterpillar looks like.

so the damn moth is still chilling in my living room. i like the vacuum cleaner idea, i'll try that a little later. don't want to wake my upstairs neighbor with the sound of a vacuum at 6AM.

    thank you, caseopele!
vacuum was great idea. i felt a little squirmish doing it but all is good now and the moth is in dust heaven.

you know scared is probably not the word i'm looking for to describe what i feel when i see a bug/animal of any kind. i actually feel disgusted. even a butterfly. weird.

    Man, you're one weird guy.

Poor moth, I love moths they're pretty (except the tiny ones that eat my sweaters -those must die!)

Anyways, I'm a butterfly/moth catcher. Since I was a kid I could catch them... hum... also lizards.... damn I've said too much!!!

Did it look like this? I think it might be mine. I accidentally let "Bill" fly out a window. Let me know. "Bill" has one leg a little shorter than the other.

I get pretty skeeved by anything with more than 4 legs but I've learned to accept some of them. I don't kill spiders anymore even though they make me want to squeal in horror because they kill other bugs. And having cats is awesome for alerting me to any nasties in my apartment. The other night I walked into the kitchen to see one of the foster cats staring up at the ceiling. She was staring at a big fat water bug, fortunately I had the vacuum cleaner plugged in right there. The little bastard couldn't run from the hose!
