    Subject: Stay Home!

    why shouldn't you go?

because someone always gets shot at this event - yesterday was another prime example.

Over 3.5 million people don't seem to be afraid.

Because I was on a deadline for a freelance writing gig.

Curious why you're asking "why not" if people didn't go. Is this some kind of marketing research thing, or just curiousity?

    srsly
compare the level of violence (one person shot in the leg) relative to the huge numbers of people (3.5 million estimated on the news yesterday)
Even one injury is too much, but come on! That parade is fabulous.

There's some really good photos - check out the Brooklynian flickr photo group!

    p.s.
I first went to the parade the first year I was back in NYC -- in the 80s.

I went. It was great! The people were beautiful. Participants and spectators alike. From the toddlers to the teens to the members of the older generation. Costumes, bands, food...

Thank you to all the folks who put it together. See you there next year.
