Construction (oy, the noise)

Just returned to my apartment from a long summer away to the noise of buzz saws, metal-on-metal, and jackhammers, all starting at 7:30 AM and continuing until late in the afternoon. The construction, which can be heard from two blocks away, is being done on the building behind mine and I have the glorious view and sound of it all. I called my management company to ask for mercy (e.g. an apartment facing the street, perhaps a reduction in rent), and was kindly told to fuck off. Apparently, the construction continues until April and, as I work from home, I will have lost my job and my mind. Anybody know what I can do stop the insanity? Seriously. Anything.

sublet yours on a six month lease (on a weekend when no one is working) and find something quiet in the interim.

you mentioned that you work from home, i assume, via the internets. can you do what you do in another location, say, a coffee shop or other biz with WiFi?
