i'm going through an awkward wardrobe stage and am starting to shop for the fall. Any shop from the LL Bean Catalog? Thoughts on quality of the clothing as well as your general opinion would be helpful.

i grew up completely clothed in ll bean and lands end. (i think i knew bean's phone number before i knew my own.) i still have some clothes from them -- some i've had for many years.

quality is top notch. shirts last forever and do not shrink; coats etc. are as warm as they say. fashion...not their strong suit. but you knew that.

also, the most incredible return policy ever. they really will take items back at any time for any reason. i had a coat for almost 10 years that i wore infrequently because it was too big. (i did wear it, though -- it did not look new.) last year i called them, and they traded for the right size with absolutely zero fuss. i felt like kind of a jerk, but their view is that they don't want anyone walking around feeling unhappy about something from their company. and now i love my coat.

    what sweet tea said!

Although my wife has since forced me into Banana Republic and J Crew - I still have LLB stuff that refuses to wear out. If you're into that look the other plus is that it's always in style.

yeah, that's my problem, i need a "look"

I have no fashion sense and am getting "older" so am trying to dress my age and still look "fashionable." friends are also pushing me towards BR and JCrew.

    Thanks!

I am actually wearing an LLBean shirt today...a close fitting (tailored look) oxford shirt. The best part? $14.95. Great quality, looks stylish, and it will last forever.
