Dog Run Anyone?

I noticed that there have been many posts about wanting a dog run in the Prospect Heights/Crown Heights area. I know there are off leash laws in certain areas, which is nice, but I definitely would love a dog-specific fenced in area. Has anyone started a petition or anything of that nature? I read a post from 2006 about Mt. Prospect Park as a potential location for a dog run. Any thoughts?

I read on urbanhound.com about the process for starting a dog run, which begins with a petition. Has anyone begun this process already?

Would totally love a dog run! In Brower Park there's more than enough space. I don't know of anyone working on it. A neighbor of mine in my old neighborhood, bed-stuy, managed to get permission for one in von king park. getting it built is another matter. I could check with him and see how he did it...

Please do find out how your neighbor did that. I am going to stop by the next parks and rec committee meeting to see if they would know.

I know a petition would help. I'll find out what I can and get back to the board in the next couple of days.

We live on brower park and met the president of the block association. He said they are going to petition for a fenced run in brower park. I told him there would be big support for that and to let us know where to sign. Once i get some info I wil repost.

AAARgh. I've been absent. I haven't been ab*e to reach my friend. He has been out of town. I know that he got a dog run approved for Von King Park. I a8so know that it has yet to be bui*t. Sorry. I am sti** on it.

We're right on Brower Park, too- On Park Place. If ANYTHING can/needs to be done, I'm in! If your friend gives us an idea how he did it, I'd be willing to donate what $ I can to the cause, and my elbow grease is free, if materials need to be brought in, wood chips put down, whatever!

Thanks to EVERYONE who's helping to get this going! We definately need it! We have big dogs and can't tire them out without bike rides, and the streets are always SO busy!! This would be a dream come true!
