Dentists

Can anyone recommend any dentists, nearby or even in the city? I have to look them up to see if my insurance covers them. I see a ton on my provider's website and in the neighborhood, but I have no idea if they are any good.

Thanks.

Mine's in the city, but he's in the Financial District close to the 2,3, 4, and 5 trains, and everyone in his office is super-nice. He's also really good -- he replaced a filling for me once on one of my molars and the new one looks so much like the rest of my tooth that I can't remember which tooth it's in!

    Here's his info:

I go to Emil Sabbione on Plaza. He seems pretty competent, and I was referred by a friend whose opinion I trust. He has a younger associate, who looks like he's about ten years old, but likewise seems competent. I don't really have any objective way of measuring how good they are. They've done a few fillings which don't hurt after they've been done, and a few cleanings, which don't hurt more than any other I've had. Dr. Sabbione (aka Skippy) always takes the time to explain things carefully to me when I've asked. He could be making stuff up, but it doesn't sound that way.

They take my insurace, which I think is Aetna.

I started going to Dr. Sarji in Park Slope about two years ago. I've been happy with him.

Thanks for the replies so far. I'll check and see if those guys take my GHI dental supplemental.

    Thanks again.

Did he tell you the one about how, on the first day go got his cell phone, his wife called him to pick up some ground beef at the butcher's? As he's telling me the story, MY wife calls to tell me to pick up something at the supermarket. Weird.

I go to the one on Washington and Sterling. I'm actually getting my choppers cleaned tomorrow. If it's of any value, the receptionist there is a hot Dominican looking chick. The dentistry isn't bad either, I got some cavities filled in February.

no, but that IS weird. the last one i remember was the one where he used to work at abercrombie & fitch (the real one) and two of his coworkers were fired for having an illicit love affair.

    i love alice, too.

Ok, this is really weird. The office calls me on Saturday to remind me about an appointment Monday morning. I show up, the door is locked, the lights are out, and there's no answer. I go home and play the message again to be sure I heard it right. I did. I left a message for them to call me when they get in. They haven't yet....

Yes. I go to Dr. Kravets there. She scolded me a little the first time I went cuz I hadn't been to a dentist in ages. I guess it showed, heh. But she does excellent work so I kept going back. And they've taken any insurance I've had so far... I think I'm on my third insurer since I started going there.

We go to Emil Sabbione on Plaza! We really like him. Our daughter actually likes to go to the dentist because she looks forward to seeing everyone there. Emil and his staff take their time w/the kiddies and don't push them if they are scared.

I am pretty sure they take GHI still. My husband was a HS teacher for many years and we were covered under him, and they took our insurance. I vote for Emil, all the way!
