I know there was a some discussion about the abandoned/neglected building on 7th ave and 2nd, just across from 2nd street cafe, a few months ago, as being for sale. I remember the price was beyond reason...I can't seem to find the thread when I search....does anyone know where that thread is? I have a friend that is interested in forking over the dough, but can't find the thread that had all the info.

thanks in advance,

friend of crazy real estate investor

Ask any real estate broker about 'the crazy lady' they'll put you in touch. Don't worry about them wanting part of the action. They'll give you the number and run in the other direction.

I hope your friend is a good, decent (even if crazy?) person. Even tho' it's a shame for that building to just sit there, I worry about what might happen if it's 'renovated.'

but that's me. I seem to remember $5.7 million?

Last realtor was Aguayo & Huberer - maybe they can send you in the right 'direction?'

he's a good guy and is not interested in buying to turn into luxury fahn-fahn condos, but rather an arts center. So, he's a real estate investor, but also a philanthropist and wants to get some grants, etc.

I knew her and her daughter.. the old Landmark Pub. I wonder why the daughter doesn't just take it over. :(

let me know if anything happens with it.

i'd be interested in getting involved with some sort of arts center in that location.

    maybe not financially...but otherwise...

that's refreshing. it'd be nice to see something that defies the existing paradigm happen.

I once saw the owner sitting outside an apartment building on Union Street. I think that might be where she lives.

I wrote this in the original thread but awhile back they had the place open on Saturdays (the bar) and were cleaning out - selling - the stuff which was a real mish mosh. The daughter was insistent that they would be reopening soon but that didn't happen. This was a few years ago.

They're in Florida now. I heard the building was sold to some developer who will do whatever he wants as long as he keeps an apartment for her.
Of course, knowing the history of this place--who knows! I'd like to keep it around as just an empty shell...as contrast to what surrounds it...and memories for those of us who hoisted a few in that dusty ole spot.
