Subject: ENDA in Yvette Clarke's committee tomorrow

For any of you who have been following the drama around the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, the bill will be marked up tomorrow in the House Employment and Labor Committee, on which Representative Yvette Clarke serves. I just called her office to ask that she vote against the current version because it has been altered to eliminate protections for transgender people.

If this issue is important to you, please consider giving Rep. Clarke's office a call before tomorrow. The number is (202) 225-6231.

...and for anyone STILL following said drama, Rep. Clarke was one of only four Democrats on the committee (along with Rush Holt of New Jersey, Linda Sanchez of California, and Dennis Kucinich) to speak out against excluding transgender people from ENDA, voting against the non-inclusive version of the bill.

This version still passed the committee, but I'm pretty proud of Rep. Clarke today. It can't be easy for a freshman rep to go against the speaker and the bill sponsor like that.
