I need to move!

Oy, this time I'm really done with this nonsense and I need to move.

Surely a single female with 2 cats and a good job can find a safe, clean, quiet and convenient 1+ bdrm apt. for $2000, right?

I hope to stay in WT/PS/PH or even CG/CH.

If anybody knows anything or has any suggestions, please please please let me know.

As disappointed I am to have to move, it's clearly time.

I keep seeing ads for what looks like a gorgeous building in Clinton Hill/Bed Stuy called The Mynt. Anybody know what this area is like? http://www.756myrtle.com/

Typical case of shady real estate types trying to push the border and bend the truth to rope in unsuspecting customers.

Mynt is at Myrtle and Nostrand, a full 9 blocks into Bed-Stuy from the Clinton Hill border at Classon.

And it should definitely be noted that the Mynt is directly across the street from the Marcy Projects, long reputed to be some of the roughest and most dangerous public housing in all of Bed-Stuy.

From what I have read and some driving I have done through the area for kicks, this area is situated in an odd sort of more industrial no-mans land right by the border of South Williamsburg that has none of the charm of classic brownstone Bed-Stuy several blocks to the south.

Sure, things have changed everywhere for the better in the last few years so feel free to have a look, but just note that the area in question will be absolutely nothing like the Windsor Terrace, Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Carroll Gardens or Cobble Hill neighborhoods you mention as preferred locations.

Instead, it is probably more comparable to Bushwick in terms of appearance, access to services/amenities etc.

Sorry if that sounds biased, but I'm just trying to set expectations in the context of the other neighborhoods you mentioned.

yeah its bed stuy and not in a cool area, right next to the projects. government housing and high crime area not a good combo.

Onward and upward

Not to mention that it's off the J and M lines. Ummm.... no.

The J and M lines are among the worst subway lines in the city. It will make commuting to Manhattan feel like a marathon. That area is just depressing.

Personally, I don't think you will have a problem finding a nice apartment in a decent area for less than $2000. I was able to find one in Crown Heights for less than a $1000.

I've heard of the Marcy Projects and know that that's not where I want to be.

have you tried using a broker? I think folks have said good things about the PH broker on Vanderbilt by the Garden Cafe. I have almost always used a broker to find an apartment in NYC and generally find them to work well for me, my schedule and my budget.

Yep, am calling brokers too. It's going to cost me a fortune, but peace of mind is priceless. At least that's my mantra right now.

It's a bit overwhelming.....
