Would love to join in their vision, but there is no way that 35,000 new yup families are going to stream into downtown Brooklyn. Ask around, the ones already here, their patience is waning as it is. These downtown Brooklyn people are dreaming. :idea:

I make my prediction and I stand by it: the future of NYC is MEXICANS, baby. They have increased by 1000% in the past decade, are the only ones coming in in numbers greater than the yups, and will continue to flood in until NY transitions from Nueva York to Nueva Mexico. Mark my words. 8)

It looks like they're trying to turn it into a mini-Manhattan.

And I've noticed they've neglected to mention that as soon as that amount of development hits downtown Brooklyn, no artist would be able to afford to live there!

They better be rich mexicans if they're going to live in that redeveloped paradise. Unless they're going to build barracks for hordes of migrant mexicans who'll be doing the dishwashing, waitering and bussing at the restaurants, and the janitorial work.

Plus, the west indians are strongly populated near downtown brooklyn and much of the rest of the borough. Will they be able to coexist with this new influx if it happens?

Well the so-called "Gold Coast" of Prospect Park West and vicinity was originally built with the gentry in mind, but for most of the 20th century it was home to more than its share of working stiffs.

I don't think it's a far stretch to say that Mexicans will take over the city, in less than ten years they've already claimed entire neighborhoods in numbers that make the yups look like stragglers. Drove through Sunset yesterday, are there even any Puerto Ricans still left over there?? :shock: :shock: :shock:
And what about the tons of Mexicans now in Hell's Kitchen?
Not to mention, if Spitzer's driver license plan goes through, juepa!!

It's nearly impossible to navigate downtown Brooklyn rush hour traffic as it is, even on a bicycle, and now on top of all the other condos going up, they're gonna add 35,000 more residential units with other attractions to boot?? Like I said, they're dreaming. Hello zero quality of life, and hello the new soon to come de-gentrification of Brooklyn.

I would just like to add- I past by the Richard Meier building today.

So, this building has been SLOWLY building- the fact is, he hasn't sold didilly-squat to back up the cost of building it in the fist place.

OK- wait, I correct myself- he doesn't want to eat it, so he's holding out on the best price, or until he can't financially stand it anymore and has to eventually lower prices.

Meanwhile, I'm stuck looking at some bad, ill-fitting architecture. This building is a HARD SELL.

Does ANYONE know ANYONE who has actually bought something in here?!?
If so, are they not royally pissed they've been waiting as long as they have to actually MOVE IN?!?!

Bottom line: not worth the price.
