I like Yamato on 7th near 1st (right?). Good sushi, nice back garden in the summer. Never gotten delivery, but this is Amurrica, so I assume they deliver . . .

oshima on 7th between berkeley and lincoln in DELICIOUS.

the fish is really fresh. i think it's up there in quality to blue ribbon sushi, but much less expensive.

my husband and i adore Kiku on 5th and Berkely. We eat there at least twice a week. They have very fresh fish, great specials, and the most amazing selection of vegetarian rolls. Try the Sunrise Roll if you like that kind of thing.

    Subject: Oshima

    I agree w/Oshima. it's definitely a cut above.

i've not had good experiences on my two visits to kiku.

not even a comparison to oshima with regard to freshness of the fish, in my opinion.

Second vote for Yamato - the Millennium Roll is to die for.

Yamato is great. I went somewhere on 5th near(ish) union over the weekend. It was pretty good, at least after that first solo bottle of sake. :D And the people were super friendly and even translated random Japense signs for me when I got drunk and curious (I was very polite).

Also, not sure if they deliver but Taro sushi is great.
It's at 446 dean st ---Prospect Heights technically speaking, but very easily walkable from the slope. go there and eat at the bar and just have the guys make whatever is fresh, piece by piece it's amazing.

Man, I know what I'm having for lunch today!

Can't go wrong with Yamato or Oshima, imo. The noodle soups at Oshima are also delicious.

We used to like Yamato, but it got to the point where we were sick of everything having avacado on it. Maybe it has gotten better? I will have to try it again.

For delivery we really like Maura (sp) on 5th and 5th.

Yamato and Oshima on 7th Avenue and Kiku on 5th Avenue are all good.

I have yet to visit Mura and Jpon on 5th Avenue.
