Debate Border of Crown vs Prospect Heights

We're planning a move to 457 Prospect Place btw grand and classon. Since it is east of Washington, does that make it Crown Heights or Prospect Heights? If this has been debated before just point me to the thread.

If it is hotly debated, I'm not looking for a gun battle but was really just kinda curious.

This has been discussed many times. Here's one of them.

it could be debated till the cows come home. but i do think the jewish hospital thing with the name and there is a church too on over east side of washington also has prospect heights in it. so maybe the border does go east slightly more.

The Prospect Heights border will continue to grow, as long as these Landlords can get their ridiculous rents.

-are being gouged for rent over $1200 for a JR 1 bedroom
-youve been told the neighborhood is up-and-coming and youre the classiest person in sight--and you're a complete slob

I second this request...

Prospect Heights need not have a continuous border... the two blocks encompassing the Jewish hospital and the associated building with the huge balconies would be enough, for me.

I am holding out for them to open a Whole Foods on Franklin... I will then know we have arrived, and tell me friends I live in Park Slope...

Oh you missed the thread where it was decided that PH extends to 7th to the west and Franklin to the east.

You're in Crown Heights. How much that matters to you, I have no idea. It's not like anything becomes closer or further away by virtue of a neighborhood name.

Huh??? Isn't there one on Flatbush at Prospect? Maybe I'm getting the name mixed up, but there's a national DR-type pharmacy/sundry shop there.

That's on the west side of Flatbush which puts it into the Slope (since we're being all exact on boundaries).

So I always thought that neighborhoods were based on political or zip codes or such. Found this web site: http://www.health.state.ny.us/statistics/cancer/registry/appendix/neighborhoods.htm

Notice that PH is not even listed!

Anyway, then I found this site: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dcp/html/neighbor/neigh.shtml

And it clearly states:
"Geographically, New York is a city with 5 boroughs, 59 community districts and hundreds of neighborhoods. In 2006, the Department of City Planning issued a revised wall map displaying the neighborhood names and community district boundaries along with informative statistics on the geographic, demographic and economic profile of New York City."

To me that means I live in Prospect Heights-Crown Heights-Weeksville. The cab driver doesn't know where this is, I'll have to explain it anyway.

According to the city, that would be your, "community district." But that doesn't change the idea that PH/CH/Weeksville are all separate neighborhoods. But as I said yesterday, hey, a name is just a name. The only real question is if you like where you live.

I like to tell people I live in "East New York". It sounds more "street" or something.
