Kitchen Nightmares TV show

So, I rarely watch TV, but last night we were channel surfing and we came across this program - has anyone else seen it? I think it's fuggin' great!

For those that haven't seen or heard about it, Chef Ramsey (the Simon Cowell of chefs) visits struggling restaurants and tries to help turn'em around. For those that have seen Ramsey in "Hell's Kitchen," he's still at acerbic at times, but the overall tone is more encouraging than anything else - a refreshing change.

It's more like a management show with a large portion of makeover thrown in. The original on BBC America (ch 126 or 106, I forget which) is super fun: total gross-out grimy english restaurants with bugs in every crevice, poorly managed vanity projects, great food/bad business plan. He swears alot, and rallies the troops.
The US version is on Fox/ch5.

Yeah, Papi Chulo hates reality TV but will watch this show.
Now that I think of it. Ramsey is the type of character that you can base people's tastes by. You either hate him or like him and that says a lot about you. I think he's brilliant.

I just saw an episode of it yesterday for the first time.

I don't watch the chef show he judges but I know enough of his reputation (probably from diligently watching The Soup) that I wasn't even sure it was the same guy at first. He was so friendly and silly (though many of his words were bleeped, they were with a smile) it threw me off.

I guess because he isn't judging a competition, it allows his more compassionate side to come out.

The small excerpt I watched (the un-fresh nachos), he had an expression on his face that said, "These poor clueless buggers!"

After watching the only episode I've seen (Flyn McCool's in the Hamptons), I felt obliged to end every sentence with "yes?"

Chef Ramsey is the best, and the show is funny as all get out. My favorite episodes are the ones with the completely clueless owner/chef who is absolutly convinced that they are losing money because everyone else can't see "the vision". Did anyone see the actor/chef episode? Classic

The chef with a vision - about pizza, right? Poor guy!
I really like Ramsay. I like the British version of this show better because they talk more about re-doing the menu (or, if it's something else that's wrong, about how to fix the problem). It seems like the American one is more of a makeover show. Plus, in the American show they tell you what they're going to show you next with every single ad bumper. But I still enjoy it. But try to catch the British one on BBC America. http://www.bbcamerica.com/content/154/index.jsp

Actually, I just watched an episode last night. One nice thing - in addition to being able to watch anytime, the commercial breaks are only 15 seconds.

Holy crap, you are absolutely RIGHT!!!
WTF? I am so used to getting the "clips" thing from all of them sites that I never imagined it possible. When did this start happening and are there other stations that do this? I watch the cheesy Verizon Wireless commercials on now bragging about watching "clips" on your phone - clips!?? Why not entire SHOWS or movies like this?

[Whyfi, is this the future or just a corporate "tease" that will never reach it's full potential. Will I be able to watch past/ present football games? movies? Discovery show documentaries? via the web or my phone like this? Why not? Will fiber optics allow for such web traffic?]

    Re: Kitchen Nightmares:

The MOST delusional award goes to Sebastian of "Sebastian's". If his wife did not front the 300K in money for that place, his ass would be out of business. Apparently, he UNDID ALL of the improvements chef Ramsay did for the show and went back to his "concept" menu with the confusing combinations. What an idiot.

Have you played with Joost? I was a beta member, and it's pretty cool - limited library right now, but growing.

Funny! This was the one episode that I was going to follow-up on - I had a feeling that the idiot would do that!

Looks like he pared down the 20 gourmet flavor combinations and kept some of Ramsey's pizzas...

There's a place in Astoria that is really pretentious and claims to be vegetarian-friendly. My ex and I ate there once. Now, the atmosphere was great with a lot of original artwork on the walls. What made it pretentious was the menu and what it led you to expect.

I swear the peas on my plate were CANNED. And the fava bean dip was beyond gross. Needless to say, while we may have been interested in purchasing one of the paintings, we certainly never went back for the food. Yuck.

i think Peter's from last night's show is in Babylon on Long Island, about 40 miles east of PH. it looked like it's near the LIRR station.
