Kiku sushi on 7th?

Anyone know when the new space is opening?

not sure what you mean. is kiku closing and something's going to replace it, or is kiku expanding?

There's a new Kiku opening up on 7th around 11th street. In a spot that used to be a chinese, then asian restaurant.

Looks like it is 95% finished, would expect an opening very soon.

Questions: I seem to recall that the Kiku on 5th and the Kiku on 7th are separate operations - in my mental shorthand 'bad kiku' and 'good kiku', respectively. Anyone know if the new Kiku is affiliated with either?

The new Kiku has the same owners at the hole in the wall on 7th & 16th. I spoke to them about this new place a few weeks ago and they told me that they expect to open early December.

I looked through the window last night and it looks finished, just awaiting sushi. I am really looking forward to this place opening, the hole in the wall is very good so I expect this to be the same.

two kikus within 5 blocks of each other?? my word.

I personally LOVE LOVE LOVE hole in the wall Kiku. I've never been disappointed.

I'll try their new one though, especially if it is a sit down place.

They said they are keeping the hole in the wall for delivery and pick up, the new joint will be sit down only.

They will open tomorrow, as per the sign in the window.

Is Red Hot gone?

No, not the Red Hot space...the ever revolving space next to Russo's. My wife got lunch from the new Kiku yesterday and gave it the thumbs up.
