Sorry, no food suggestions but I'm curious about your trip.

We're trying to plan a trip to Belize sometime this winter. Any suggestions on what was amazing and what was awful (food, activities, hotels...)? Did you rent a car?

    I loved it!
We stayed at Turtle Inn in Placencia
    www.turtleinn.com
its one of 3 resorts owned by Francis Ford Coppola
    and it is absolutely stunning
We went snorkeling and diving (its the 2nd best place in the world after the Great Barrier Reef in Australia) and we went to the jungles, took boats out to a secluded island and to the jungles. Food was great! Went biking around the village, sunset boat rides etc.
Our accomodations exceded everything I could of imagined. We stayed in a gorgeous thatched roof villa with our own outdoor shower and it was just magical! people are so nice and english is the official language!
    GO!!!!!!

ahhh what a wonderful place. My gf and I went there last summer and had an awesome time. Scuba diving in the blue hole, exporing the ancient ruins, it was awesome. Belize city is kinda dodgey, but the islands around it are wonderful!

PM me if you want some details from my experience, I have to look up the name of the places we stayed but everything was soooo worth it, and not too expensive either!

    I agree, GO!

We went to Belize for our honeymoon, but we were on San Pedro. I'd try someplace like Bogota Bistro on 5th - lots of great latin food (maduros to die for) that isn't 100% Belize, but still has many of the flavors.
