Subject: Deli (Angelique's) at Underhill and Prospect sold

Yesterday I stopped by to purchase some sundries. The door was locked. A very nice gentleman named Mohammed opened it and let me know that he was the new owner. He owns an upscale bodega on 5th and Berkeley and at 15th and 4th. He assured me that he was going to do the same here. He thought he might be open for business by January 15th with a brand new look.

He could make decent money selling good coffee/hot chocolate to the playground parents across the street.
If it's good they will pay.

Actually, they'll pay whether it's good or not. Quality has never been an issue for these people, just image. 8)

Why so Restless Native? Is spilled juice, vomit, and poopie nappies holding with the 'image' you speak of?

if this store's bodega sister is the deli on corner of 5th ave and berkeley then we are in for a treat. the owners are super nice, and the sandwiches are huge.

i hate to see small places go out of business, but my heart fluttered upon reading this... it will be nice to have a corner store that will be open past 9pm during the week. i never quite understood how they were in business really, not having the basics like coffee, more than a dozen times on a sunday and some ice cream for the people that like sweets.

yay for a new store! and very true, with the park across the street, they will certainly have some good business, especially during the summer months.

spoke with one of the workers and he told me they would be opening at the end of january or something to that effect, and that they would have fresh vegetables and other niceties. the inside looked real nice, floor to ceiling tiles from what i could gather.

    cheers.

Hope this place turns out nice. I live practically across the street from it and went in there maybe 4 times over the past 3 years in its former incarnation.
I allways felt that if i went in there at night i would stumble upon an armed robbery in progress and get my brains blown out.

the one thing i hope they dont sell is little 25 cent bags of chips. so the neighborhood kids cant drop the empty bags every where.

    dirty little bastards
