I will be moving to the area soon. Is there a gym in Ditmas/Kensington?

I just moved over there and haven't found a gym. I take the B/Q to the Crunch on Flatbush. It only takes around 15 minutes. If you find that there is one closer, let me know!

If you are in Kensington, I believe there is a gym on the northern edge of the neighborhood (Caton Ave or so). If you're closer to Midwood, there's nothing really in walking distance, the closest gym is probably Bally's on Kings Highway if you're willing to take the bus.... only other thing around here is a Curves on McDonald Av near Ave I. We've lived here close to 2 years now and have not found a gym in the area we'd want to join.

You can get a recreation pass to Brooklyn College, if you live nearby, for $200 per year. Right now the activities are limited because of renovations to work out equipment and basketball. When the renovation is complete next fall, there will be a new pool, squash courts and other facilities.

Do you know if there is still treadmill equipment left in Brooklyn College? I used to jog the track all the time and ever since the renovations I have been struggling to find a place.

So what do you do at the gym? Watch TV?

There is a gym called Kensington Fitness, it's on the corner of Caton Ave and E. 2nd St. It's a pretty good place, I think it costs about $60 a month if you do it per month, or like $450ish for the year - which you can pay in monthly installments.
They have 2 floors and a bunch of classes available as well.
My roommate goes there and seems to like it a lot.

That's rude. Just because I would like to be able to walk to a gym, rather than schlep on the subway, doesn't mean I don't work out when I get there. Sheesh.

You can take tennis lessons at the bubble. They do group lessons which are a bunch of drill classes that depending on the teacher, keep you running for an hour and a half.

    Try riding a bicycle.

Subject: New Gym -- Spartan Gym by Kent Movie Theater

Spartan Gym has opened on Coney Island Avenue next door to the Kent Movie Theater. That's by Avenue H if anyone plans to travel by bus or subway.

Spartan is running a special cheapo, cheapo introductory special -- one year membership for $175.

But this offer will end soon, as these things always do.

The problem with this gym is that once a machine is down, they don't fix it! I was a member of that gym for a year. One of the ellipticals broke and remained out of service until I stopped going there. Not only that, but during that year another elliptical (They only have 3 total- and 2 were out of service) and 2 treadmills were out of order.
