Police activity 9/1

Just wanted to know if anyone saw a big jump in police activity last night. There were at least two separate undercover operations on the corner of Park, one on the Rodgers and Nostrand block, the other on the Nostrand and New York block. Both times there was a significant police presence with vans full of uniforms and teams of undercovers.

This is on top of the activity last weekend, and is a whole new level for this corridor. Is anything happening further west on the avenues between Rodgers and Washington? What about folks who may be on the other side of the parkway? Any activity there? A neighbor was speculating it may be a pre-parade cleanup of known troublemakers.

When I was walking the dog late last night, there was a uniformed cop standing at the corner of Prospect and Franklin. He seemed to be waiting for something and there was a lot of chatter on his 2-way.

I bet your neighbor's right -- I bet we're going to see an increased popo presence in the neighborhood all weekend because of the parade.

I have seen a HUGE increase in police presence on Nostrand (between Eastern Parkway and Pacific) for the last two weeks. Maybe they are making a real effort... I hope it remains.

You should have been around two years ago when there was a cop on every corner of Nostrand and every corner of Franklin.
