Ski Equipment Near Park Slope

I'm taking the family - including my almost 4 year old - skiing in a couple of weeks. We need skis and the other required equipment for him: boots, goggles, long johns, etc, etc.

Does anybody know of a good place not too far from the neighborhood?

We just rent when we go skiing, all that stuff is so expensive, especially to be buying for a child who will outgrow it soon.

For equipment, I'd go to Paragon in the city at Union Square. It might be a bit pricey, but you'd be sure to find exactly what you need.

I agree with the previous poster that you might be better off just buying the kid ski clothes and renting the equipment. They grow so fast that unless you are planning on sking frequently you probably can't get more than 1-2 seasons before he/she will need new equipment.

Much cheaper than paragon, also much closer.

    It's on 5th Avenue.

Yep - that is the plan. I would just like to have the stuff before I head up to the mountain. I know a place out on Long Island that rents skis and boots for kids, but I was looking for something a little closer.

We went to Panda Ski & Sport in Bay Ridge yesterday. It was a great experience. They rent ski and snowboard equipment for kids and adults. You can rent for the weekend, for the whole season, etc. They also have a good selection of new equipment and clothing for sale. The customer service was incredible - the guys spent over 2 hours helping me pick a snowboard setup, and making sure it all fit properly. I highly recommend this place. It's on 5th Ave in Bay Ridge, around 92nd Street or so.
