Has any one checked out Tamboril? I had Sunday brunch there. The food was delicious. The decor is nice, the staff attentive and friendly. I wonder why there is barely anyone in there? Is it because it is off the beaten path? It is on Myrtle between Grand and Stueben. Right next to White Castle. I understand they have live music on Tuesday.
I don't think they have their liquor license yet. Usually you can BYOBB. I thought it was a cute place. It is worth a try I think.

I have been meaning to go up there. Yeah, maybe it's off my beaten path. Out of sight out of mind kinda thing. They may have gotten their timing a little off. They need to hang in there until those new condos over there get filled. Sort of like Gnarly vines down the other end of Myrtle. Hang in there until the walgreens building fills up!

We've been a few times and really enjoyed ourselves. They didn't have their liquor license, though, which was a bit of a bummer - both times I walked down the street to pick up some wine at a liquor store.

Other than that, the food's pretty good and the prices were reasonable. They also know was spicy means :)

Yes we walked past on Sudnay and had brunch theer on a whim, lovely food and lovely people, they do deserve more business. It was puzzling to me seeing people standing in the cold waiting for a table at Maggie Brown's a few blocks away where they couuld have been more adventurous and tried it out! I had a lovely mango salad with tamarind dressing and my husband fried chicken with yams.... The most lovely broiche bread was served warm before our orders arrived... Go and try it!

Maggie Brown's has the WORST service ever. Good food, but I would love to see more options that are worthy of my time and money. I'm checking out Tamboril this weekend!!

I wish I did, but the staff and owner are all really friendly, just ask for somethign spicy and they'll set you up :)

One night I was stuck at work while some visiting family went there for dinner. They called and asked me if I wanted them to bring me home anything, and I said, "sure, just get me something spicy." They asked the waiter, and instead of getting me something off the menu, the chef made something special for me. It was shrimp and rice and vegetables and spicy enough to kill a man - perfect for me.

Once they get their liquor license, I'll be in there much more. It's right near us and a really inviting space.

I don't know how they are staying in business although I am rooting for them because the food is delicious.Hopefully things will pick up and I certainly hope when those condos in the immediate area are finished and occupied, they get business from them.Tamboril has nice decor and good food but for some reason they are never full.Another restaurant that is seemingly empty all the time is Cafe Au Monde on Fulton and Clinton. I wish them both well.
