Selling your car to a broker...

A) Has anyone done this?
B) Are there ANY brooklyn? I've heard rumors of brokers in the bronx but don't feel like driving up there if I can avoid it.

Long story short- I'm beyond sick of having my car and have no time to sell it- I'd rather take the financial hit and just be rid of it.

Do you feel like you got a fair price? How does the whole process work? Drive up, sign over title, collect tags, get check, leave? Or does it take a few days or something?

There is a company in Baltimore (I know... it's a long drive) called CarMax which will give you a guaranteed price on your car, good for a week, or, if you prefer, will buy it on the spot. The benefit of the guaranteed price is you can then advertise the car on Craigslist or eBay and still sell it to CarMax at the guaranteed price if you do not get any better responses to your ads.

fair price, yes. same price i could've gotten had I been willing to sell it myself, no.

we drove over, talked to the guy, he did a quick test drive, and we had a check in 20 minutes. couldn't have been easier. they're open on the weekends.

(i believe it's similar to carmax.)

We tried selling my Dad's car to CarMax, they offered something like$100. We sold it on Craigslist for $3250
