crime stat map suggestions

does anyone have a good crime stat map link they could forward me? It would be greatly appreciated. I lived in Prospect Heights in the mid-nineties and am now returning, and am trying to get a handle particularly on st. john between washington and underhill. It seems like these corners and nearby have been alive with crime a lot recently. Thanks for any help in advance.

thanks for the welcome, and the links. Im excited to come back, but Im frankly freaked out by seems to be going on at st. johns and washington, and st. johns and underhill. any guidance would be extremely helpful. do people think the shootings of the past year have been a crime wave? isolated incidents? are kids dealing on both corners? are the shootings related to the dealers?

hate to just focus on this with all the great things in PH, but thats whats on my mind..

    thanks

You'll find an awful lot of crime discussion on this board - or is that what you are reacting to?
    For instance:

Anyway, you might want to edit the title of your post to reflect the specific corner of concern. I don't think everybody reads every post, you know?

Thanks - I have started a smore specific new thread.

Its the posts on this site that are worrying me, frankly, more than what I see with my own eyes.

Is this blog overly sensitive, or a good barometer?

It depends on who you are. There's no objective answer to that question.

Thanks - I hear you, but objectification is what Im trying to get at, though I know its not absolute. Is there crime on that corner?

if you think or suspect there is crime on that corner, there is crime on that corner.

    I understand what everyone is saying - but to put out a very direct question (or two);
    1. what do people think is the cause of the recent shootings around underhill?
    2. is their ever a dealer at the corner of underhill and st. john?

    1. pissed off people shooting guns.
    2. of course.

about the first, sounds like an isolated set of incidents (which were related), so I'd stop freaking out about it if I were you.

the second, who knows? when I hung out at a local bar regularly, I know who the coke dealer was. sometimes, when I go to friends' parties, the pot dealer in the building shows up offering to sell to anyone wanting some. you can't worry about where drug dealers are because they, like roaches, are quite pervasive. they're situational, too, so a lot of them have legit jobs.

for the record, I live right around the corner from st. johns on washington and love it. I've been here for years, at this point, and have no problems walking the block between underhill and washington on st. johns at night.

thanks for the advice - its helpful and appreciated.

Im spooked by online posts, but not by the neighborhood, so thats why Im digging kind of blindly and frantically.

Its seems like an awesome neighborhood Id be proud to live in (again).

I set up a thread to talk about crime reporting in our little used Brooklyn and Beyond board . . .
