Independent Runway coming to Kingston Ave

The former furniture store at 267 Kingston, between Lincoln and St. Johns, that I mentioned in the New Businesses on Kingston thread (http://www.brooklynian.com/discussion/38679/new-businesses-on-kingston#Item_19) now has a sign up in the window that led me to the website for Independent Runway, a boutique that will showcase independent fashion and accessories designers. The website said the space is currently being renovated and is expected to open in April. http://www.jointherunway.com/

Interesting business idea:

Yeah, it is interesting. It struck me as a smaller-scale plus brick-and-mortar version of Etsy, but for fashion only. Their facebook page has a lot of likes, and the posts about membership have a lots of shares, so it seems there's a lot of interest. I wish them luck; It's nice to see the many vacancies on Kingston being filled.

I expect 1000 Dean to be a hit with artsy/crafty people, and (if I were the owner of Runaway) I'd rent a stall there simply to advertise my large store on nearby Kingston.

New awning's up.

They are now open! I did a quick browse; they had a small selection of fancy dresses and hats, an assortment of Brooklyn tees, some men's wallets and flasks -- cute stuff. Hours are 2-8 pm during the week and 12-8 on weekends.

Update: Their e-commerce site is now up and running: http://www.indrnwy.com. They also now offer "runway" makeup applications and have been having Wind Down Wednesday promotions on Wednesdays from 6-8 with a free glass of wine, live music or a DJ, and 10% off.
