A floral/special events shop is opening at 237 Kingston (the old record shop that we were talking about here: http://www.brooklynian.com/discussion/38679/new-businesses-on-kingston#Item_19). I saw two women setting up inside this morning and after chatting with them a bit found out that they're going to be concentrating on the summer wedding season for now, as that's the majority of their business. After that they'll start doing retail out of the shop. They have an established business, seem really nice, and live nearby, so I'm excited. http://www.mimosafloral.com/

They seem to be keeping the record store signage.

Yup, during my first convo with the owner back on March 28th she said she thought the sign was cool and was thinking of keeping it. I'm glad she did. I've also been pleasantly surprised that the walk-in customers I've seen seem to be a mix of old and new residents and also that the flowers -- which are beautiful, by the way, with many uncommon stems -- aren't super expensive. A few weeks ago I snagged a great deal on some bright fuchsia peonies that were originally $5 a stem but were half off. It's definitely worth a walk for any flower lovers in the area.
