Any idea why the whole neighborhood smells like smoke from a fire this morning?

Smells like heavy smoke between Franklin & Washington, at least between EP & St. Johns...Any clues? Haven't heard any fire trucks this am...

Yeah, it's not just the neighborhood; I could still smell it once I got to work in Manhattan this morning.

Indeed.  I'm on E.Pkwy and the inside of the building smelled so strong I thought the fire was inside and was about to call 911....until i walked out and it looked foggy (5:30am).   I work in Englewood Cliffs NJ and it smells here too.

I'm so glad you posted this, and that people have responded with some answers. I am on Classon btwn St Marks/Bergen and it was so incredibly strong, it woke me up. I thought for sure it was on my block, if not a house next door, but thought it really strange that I did not hear sirens. I smelled it for hours.

I'm so glad no one seemed to be hurt.
