Football season starts tonight.

If there are any Steelers fans in proho, there's always a group of about 10-20 of us who congregate at 200 5th on gamedays (about a third of which are female, btw, so it's not like a frat party). Tonight's numbers might be a little thinner since the game's on national TV, but it's still a freaking good time.

I'll be there in spirit but will remind my brother PW about it. Go Steelers! (Or Go Stillers, depending on what part of the WPA area yinz guys are from.)

Good lord, I thought I could get away from Steelers fans in Prospect Heights. You people are everywhere. Well, at least your season is starting with some karmic retribution for Carson Palmer.

    We are everywhere, it's true.

    Brooklyn is... Steeler Country!

I thought Steeler Country was appendectomy country. Here's to another delightful AFC North season. Let's see if y'all can win another Super Bowl without destroying my team's knee again.

I'm not so sure that the neighbors I had growing up knew it was a slang word. Luckily my mother informed us early on that it was only to be used in jest and only at home.

Despite today's poor showing, is anyone here a Chiefs fan? Ten years in this city and I have yet to find a good group with whom to watch games!!!

I'm also looking for suggestions on game-watching locations. 200 Fifth is okay, but alternatives are welcome (especially since the Chiefs game is usually relegated to a teeny TV in the corner...bah!).

Given what happened to Green on Sunday, this should be a dead letter by now.

Really looking forward to week 3, though. Palmer's my QB in my FFL and I expect much more out of him than his paltry performance on Sunday. So I'm hoping he throws for 3 scores against the Steelers. Two to Johnson and one to his real favorite target, Troy Polamalu.

As a Dolphins fan (trust me, I KNOW) I am always looking for a local crew to view. I went to college in crazy J-E-T-S territory so I'm fine with fellow fans routing for their respective teams. I'd love to find out if the neighb congregates on Sundays (or if we can possibly organize something?) to enjoy the games in general.

This old thread prompted me to ask, are there any predictions for the Super Bowl?

Sadly, the Steelers were wiped out early on. I'm rooting for the Bears, hoping that Brian Urlacher will knock Peyton on his ass.

Of course, it was great to see Tom Brady lose.

Ooohh I am so sad I didn't find these boards until after this thread lost its steam in Sept! I am a dedicated Steelers fan. At least now I know I am not alone in the neighborhood when next season comes around.

As far as the Super Bowl goes.. I'll be rooting for the Colts, maybe only because they were able to take down Tom Brady last week, I don't know.

    Steph-- Brooklyn is Steelers country.

I'm rooting for the Colts. I was thrilled to see Beardy removed from contention (did he choke? God forbid you ever hear anyone suggest that!) but I can't face twice the number of Payton Manning commercials than we already have.

I'd like to see Peyton come through, but I'm going to be so pissed if he's only delayed his choke routine by a game...

Oh, and I fuggin' hate the Bears... but I'm Minnesotan, so whaddaya expect?

Yeah, poor Tom Brady, lost in the Championship game this year, three rings in the bag, and moved on from Bridget Moynihan to.... Gisele!!! I think the guy is doing alright. And for the record Jints fan here. At least we had a better year then the Steelers, lol. And Iron City tastes like pee.

Dude, you play in the NFC East. Besides, Eli Manning looks like a toe.

But, Iron City is horrible. And coming from a guy who's on record as saying "bad beer is better than no beer"... well, Iron City is bad beer. In fact, they had it in the Met on Vandy for about two months... maybe 18 months or so ago. I'm guessing it didn't sell well enough to keep on the rota. Go figure.

WhyFi-- I'm totally pumped that the Steelers got Tomlin. Your defense was not the problem last year.

1 - Yeah, Eli is fugly... and Ben R. looks Tom Brady, especially after the motorbike ride.

2 - We do play in the NFC East. No shit, Sherlock! But we made the playoffs and we didn't lose Cowher. Better year in my book.

3 - Not sure what your beer thing riposte is all about.

But Tomlin was a smart move - another good Steelers coach for at least a decade, so your season did get a little better.

Whoever put up that "The Bears: finishing what Katrina started" banner at the Bears/Saints playoff game should be shot.

    1. Ben's a redneck, and I wonder how real world smart he is. But he does have one of those fancy diamond-laden ring thingys, so...

    2. Making the playoffs in the NFC is like being one of the smatest kids in remedial class. As long as Coughlin coaches the Giants, they're going nowhere.

    3. The beer thing was about agreeing with you that IC does indeed taste like pee. Not that I've ever tasted pee.

I once met several individuals who had tasted both pee and Iron City and I can assure yinz that they do not taste the same.

Having said that, Iron City sucks. But, hey, those silver bottles are sorta cool.

    Yinz. N'at.

If you're interested, Jack (or any football fans), this is a site I've been on since a long time back.
