Hummingbirds

Anyone else see any hummingbirds lately? I've seen a few in the yard over the past few days. This is the first time I've seen any in Brooklyn. I managed to take a photo of one that was hanging out on the neighbor's clothesline. Sorry for the lousy pic - I swear it's not a pigeon!

Subject: Hummingbird in the North Slope

I saw a green hummingbird tonight! This is the first time I've ever seen one in Brooklyn. I was thrilled.

Very cool - I wonder if they're just passing through on their migration... Supposedly, Prospect Park is like a popular truck stop for birds. It would explain the rash of sightings lately and the lack thereof otherwise...

I've seen a ruby throated hummingbird. You can check this site for the birds in the area on any given day.

Yes, they come around every year. Usually they'll appear starting in late August, early September. I've been seeing them for years and have even started planting flowers that attract them. It's quite amazing that they make a pit-stop in Brooklyn!
