It is getting interior and exterior work done, after years of no activity.

    I recall when they moved locations several years ago that the Chavella's folks planned to hold onto the lease for that space so they could open a second restaurant with a different theme and cuisine. I wonder if that this is still true...

    Yes, I remember mentions of a french restaurant or something.

    A big part of me is surprised it isn't going to become a 4 story apartment building.

    This space is still for lease. ...just waiting for the right foodservice venue.

    It could compliment Covenhoven nicely.

    There's also a strange overgrown backyard with a back shed of some sort— anyone have information on this? I believe I saw it when Covenhoven first opened.

    I don't understand why they didn't just make it a bar with small plates of the same food.  We would have gone all of the time for a beer and guacamole.  Small staff, no extra kitchen needed, etc.
