it's pretty clear! the victim was my friends daughter. 

I see the date has now been added to the article:

"The incident occurred yesterday, Tuesday, October 28, at around 5:00pm."

Maybe I missed it but was this antisemitic?  it sounds like its some strange game of just looking for someone with nicer shoes and attacking them. 

It does not appear that the game itself is antisemitic.  I seems simply that the children playing the game figured the Jewish girl to be an easy target.

However, based on what is written in the article, the gathering crowd included people who found it necessary to share their hate, to say it mildly.

Yes, and while I am bothered by the incident as its aftermath, I would be more bothered if the game targeted people who were different, as opposed to people who just had nicer shoes.

Who comes up with these stupid games?  I was especially appalled by the logic of the people at the library who yelled that nobody should have called the police, but should have fought back instead..!!

Sweet, this lays the framework for my new game.  When someone runs up to you and kicks you and says "what the hell are they" you punch them in the face and say "what the hell is wrong with you?"
