Could a typical American 12 year old have remained hidden in IKEA for more than just 6 days?

Those Swedish meatballs are really good.

He didn't live there the whole 6 days, he was just found there.  But I like the idea of it.  

I think a typical American kid would have lived there the whole time, and lasted for more than 6 days.

I could probably survive there for several months...
