The 77th Pct usually sends out a blurb after a shooting. I haven't rec'd it yet, but it will likely come today.

Makes me second guess my decision last week to get a membership to the Children's Museum for my daughter. This block would likely be on our walk home from a visit.

Children's Museum vs. Gun Violence: Visiting the Children's Museum is worth it.

I suspect children who visit the Children's Museum are less likely to commit gun violence and/or be the victims of it.

....needless to say, coorelation is not the same as causation.

My SO and I walked by as the white shirts were leaving. It looked like a black Land Rover was involved or at least caught in the middle of the crime scene.

@brookfetish I wouldn't worry about it. This was kinda unusual.

    I haven't rec'd a shooting report yet.

The officer that usually writes them might be off this week.

Gunplay at this hour is pretty unusual in the neighborhood. I wouldn't worry about it.

As a former Mainer, the anomalous outsiders I see on this block seem to be New Englanders making narcotics deals. Google "brooklyn Vermont OR Maine police"

The area certainly has an active heroin trade.    Those from outside the area who come to get lower priced heroin are appearing in the local rehabs, methadone clinics and jails.

You might not have to look as far as Maine or VT for buyers.     ....you could find some riding LIRR into the area from LI.    As a result of not sticking out "as much" in Crown Heights, they may have a perception of being safer than areas like Brownsville and ENY.

whynot_31: How do you know this area has an active heroin trade? What evidence do you have for this?

I ask because I am very curious. Thank you in advance.

I have worked with people addicted to drugs since 1990.

    Since 2003:

-I have been pretty active in local violence prevention and crime reduction efforts.

-I have consumed and created way too much media about Crown Heights on Brooklynian and elsewhere.

-I have slowly walked my dog in Crown Heights, which provides lots of opportunities to observe drug transactions and use first hand. He is also great company.

My cousin's husband is a Burlington cop, and apparently thinks of the Megabus as a main heroin conduit from New York. I would have guessed they buy their heroin closer to the bus stop, but I guess they sometimes range this far afield.
