Dean St Playground Plans

Can anyone involved provide an update on plans for renovations of the Dean St playground? I know there have been a series of meetings and committees formed.

I'm just curious what the broad plans for the renovations are -- will it be green, new and larger playground area, dog run, fewer basketball courts, etc. ?

Also, what is the rough time frame for getting this done?

It would be great if those involved could provide some transparency on their progress via this website.

Oh, and many thanks to those neighbors who have stepped up and got involved thus far.

Word is that Newswalk developer Shaya Boymelgreen just gave the city a 1.4 million dollar check to renovate the Dean Street playground.

[color=blue]The developer of the Newswalk Condos Shaya Boymyelgreen has handed over a check for 1.4 million dollars to the Parks Dept. to renovate the Dean Street playground. This is to relieve him of his obligation to provide green space when he converted the building to condos. It 's now up to the Parks Dept. to come up with a plan and design. I do know that it will include some form of astroturf and will not take away any basketball courts. They are also trying to incorporate the parking lot next door that is used by the HPD employees on Bergen St. into the playground. I'm assuming that there will be some community meetings to see what everyone would like to see in that playground.I do not have a timetable yet on when and if this will take place.
