Nostrand Index thread?

I'm not clear on why the previous Nostrand index thread got shut down (http://www.brooklynian.com/discussion/45049/the-nostrand-ave-takes-flight-spring-2015-thread/p1)? For me it's very useful to be able to see a global perspective of the changes in the form of a list. Nostrand is changing so rapidly that it's hard to keep track of it all. And there are already a few things I would want to add to the list. Can we re-open that thread, or begin it again here, if we promise not to devolve into chatter about each individual restaurant or bar?

Sorry, but to avoid duplicate discussions (see rules of the site) we locked the thread so that people can continue the convo in the thread-links that pertain to each store/topic. This message board format does not easily lend itself to lists and tallys, perhaps a Google maps list or locations would be useful? Then we can link it to a new CH thread?

I made a map and I've been keeping it updated. Please follow this link for the latest, interactive version: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=z8TGvun3NeCc.k5kyTr7PNs7k

Although they locked the thread, I can still edit my post:

You'll now find that snazzy map as part of it.     I will keep referencing the thread until around June or so....

If you want, I'll add stuff to it as we learn about it.

Thanks whynot! Would you add this link to the map in your post so that people can edit it? https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=z8TGvun3NeCc.k5kyTr7PNs7k#sthash.QnGqkhck.dpuf

It would also be great if you could add Elsie's donuts, the coffee shop on roger's and st. john's by the SBS stop, little trini café, and the recently opened columbian take-out place to your list. I realize that maybe forums are a tricky place to keep lists, but for me being able to see all the new places at once is super helpful (and, I would argue, not redundant to an individual discussion about each restaurant).

Done. For the heck of it, I have also brought the list to the attention of Rachel at DNA.info

....she may have a deadline she needs to fill.

I recently heard from someone who talked to the guy who is in the Syd's/beauty store space by Two Saints and Deck that it's going to be a nice luncheonette type place instead of Latin.  We shall see but exciting either way.

I know this is probably the wrong thread to post on, sorry.

It isn't as comprehenisve as I would have liked, but it gets the job done: http://www.dnainfo.com/new-york/20150105/crown-heights/photos-look-inside-nostrand-avenue-coffee-cocktail-bar-two-saints

I saw a counter culture coffee sign in the window of the old Syd's space. I think this is a good 'sign' of things to come.
