ALBANY: 108 Albany at Pacific is finishing up a renovation. It originally had six residential and four commercial units. The apartments are affordable: http://www.nyc.gov/html/hpd/downloads/pdf/Pass-Properties-BK.pdf. And the new storefronts look great. 108 Albany

A while ago, @nothinlikebklyngirl posted the above on a different thread.

Recently, signage went up indicating it is in the process of becoming a grocery store and coffee bar:

Here's the before shot.   Note the boarded up windows.

I hope it's gonna be a bit better than the standard corner store for the area

I suspect the tenants who now live in the renovated apartments above it, will have more refined tastes and greater means, than the rats and roaches that occupied the units and "shopped" at the prior store when it was boarded up.

It's now open. It's not fancy but it is a step up from the standard corner store. There's a larger-than-usual sandwich counter, a case with fresh pastries and donuts, and packaged cake slices from Sistaz Cakes (https://www.facebook.com/SistazCakes). Today they had carrot cake with walnuts, an almond vanilla cake, and some variety of chocolate, I think. The coffee bar is advertising cappuccino, espresso, and hot chocolate -- looks like it all comes from a diner-style machine. I also saw a few flavor syrups and a wide selection of Celestial Seasonings teas. It's cash only for now but they say they'll be accepting cards soon.
